Meredith Jane Harvel

Meredith Jane Harvel, 39, of Carterville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 13, 2017, at her home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 19, 2017, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville, with the Rev. T.J. Gentry officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Carterville.  Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m., Monday at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to the family and will be accepted at the funeral home. Meredith was born on July 12, 1978, in Herrin, to Ernest “Ernie” and Linda Lee (Corbitt) Harvel. She is survived by her loving mother, Linda Lee Harvel of Carterville; brother and sister-in-law, Shawn (Tracy) Harvel of West Frankfort; sister and brother-in-law, Amanda (Eric) Ramsey of DuQuoin; nephew, Tristen Harvel of Herrin; nieces, Samantha “Moto” and Brylee “Doodles” Ramsey; honorary adopted brother, John Duvall of Aurora; and a host of friends. Meredith was preceded in death by her father; paternal grandparents, Dale and Elizabeth (Lezu) Harvel; maternal grandparents, Samuel and Opal (Musgrave) Corbitt; and her Yorkie furbabies, Gizmo, Tigger and Jasmine. She was a 1996 graduate of Carterville High School where she was a cheerleader. She was the District Manager for Check Smart and had served as the Director of Operations at Payday Loan Store, both in Indianapolis. Meredith thoroughly enjoyed crocheting, working puzzles, making crafts, and water skiing. She will be greatly missed by her loving family, and especially by her nephew, Tristen and nieces, “Moto” and “Doodles”.
