Grief Support

Sessions are Tuesdays from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m.

Aftercare is an important part of every funeral. We at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home feel that the exceptional care that we provide during the funeral process should not cease once the funeral is over. Each of us experience the grief of death as uniquely as our thumbprint. In the days, weeks and months following the funeral, people continue to need others to lean on for understanding, encouragement and comfort. For that reason, we have joined with the Carterville Ministerial Alliance to offer a Grief Support Group that provides a safe, comforting place for expressing your emotions as one journeys through the grief process. It is very difficult to experience the loss of someone you love and we know that the grief process can continue for a long period of time. For this reason, we would like to invite you to join our Grief Support Group. We believe these groups have been able to help many people and that you would benefit greatly by meeting with us.

Sessions are Tuesdays from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m.

  • Defining Grief (Stages, Time Frame, Coping Strategies)
  • Differences Between Grief and Depression (Grief Assessment)
  • Complicated Grief/Memory Work (Sharing Pictures, etc.)
  • The Emotions of Grief
  • Holidays, Birthdays, Anniversaries (Healing Grief Rituals)
  • Memorial

These meetings are facilitated by an experienced, trained grief counselor. Many people have received comfort and help as they work through the grief process. You are not alone. You are encouraged to take advantage of this service. It is free of charge and no registration is necessary. The meetings are held every Tuesday at Christian Covenant Fellowship, 1025 S. Division Street, Carterville, IL 62918. Please call (618) 985- 4011 or (618) 985-2131 for further information.
