Stanley Everett Patterson

Carterville - Stanley Everett Patterson, 69, of Carterville, passed away Saturday, December 9, 2017, in Elkville.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 15, 2017, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville, with Brother Ron Kreid officiating.  Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, at South Hickory Hills Cemetery in Mt. Vernon with military rites by Ft. Leonard Wood Honors Team. Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.

Stanley was born on February 15, 1948, in Mt. Vernon, to Henry Everett and Minnie Mae (Artis) Patterson.  He married Paulette Lynn Dobbs on May 2, 1970, in Mt. Vernon. 

He is survived by his wife, Paulette of Carterville; son, Tim (Julie) Patterson of Pawnee; daughter, Shauna (Frank) Barber of Carterville;  grandchildren, Tylor (Michaela) Barber of Carterville, Hailey Barber of Carterville, Riley Patterson of Springfield, Nolan Patterson of Pawnee and James Patterson of Pawnee; brother, Roger (Bonney) Patterson of St. Charles, Mo.

Stanley was preceded in death by his parents. 

He honorably served our country in the U.S. Army for over 20 years retiring as Chief Warrant Officer 3.  Stanley was stationed overseas in Vietnam where he was awarded 3 Silver Stars; 6 Bronze Stars, 3 of which were with valor; and 3 Purple Hearts.

Stanley also retired from SIU after 15 years of services. 

He was an avid golfer who was a member of Jackson County Country Club. 

Stanley loved being outdoors doing yard work and fishing. He was a talented wood worker as well.

He was an outgoing individual, who never met a stranger.
