William "Billy" G. Davis, 86, of Carterville, passed away Friday, September 18, 2020, at Parkway Manor in Marion.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 21, 2020, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville, with Pastor Cody Knapik officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Carterville. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Monday. COVID restrictions apply.

Billy was born September 16, 1934, in Pomona, to Willard and Genevieve (Byrd) Davis. He married Barbara Ann Edwards on November 28, 1953, in Makanda. She preceded him in death on October 18, 2008.
He is survived by his sons, Ronnie Davis (Brenda Green) and Terry (Tammy) Davis; grandchildren, Amy Stiegleiter, Dana Gustavson, Jessica (Jason) Walker, Terry (Kenya) Davis, Ben (Chelsea) Grither, Caitlin (Tyson) Klaybor, and Chelsea Davis (fiancé Keevin Weber); 13 great-grandchildren; 3 great great-grandchildren; sisters, Carol (Gib) Foley, Ellen Lee, Dorothy Wright, and Alma McCamish; sisters-in-law, Shirley Davis, Kathie Davis and Lois Boner; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents; wife; children, Gary, LaDonna and Bobby Davis; brothers, Tom and Donnie Davis; brothers-in-law, Frank Wright, Carl Lee, P.D. McCamish, Robert Edwards, William "Byo" Edwards, Laverne Edwards, Donald Edwards, and Pete Homoya; sister-in-law, Sue Homoya; and in-laws, Lawrence and Mildred (Spiller) Edwards.
He was a member of Crainville Baptist Church as well as the Carterville Boat and Yacht Club.
Billy served the city of Carterville as Chief of Police for over 17 years and Assistant Fire Chief. He also was a coal miner and was the co-owner of B&H Trash service.
He loved being outdoors-from hunting and fishing to working in his garden. He never met a stranger, especially over a good cup of coffee or a good game of poker!
