William Phillip Penrod, 79, of Largo, Florida, and formerly of Carterville, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2020, at his home in Largo.
He was born February 22, 1941, in Herrin, to William and Loretta (Hall) Penrod. Phillip married Rosie Crain on November 30, 1968, in Carterville.
Phillip is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Rosie Penrod of Largo, Florida; daughter, Krista (Pete) Hunter of Crainville; son, Kyle (Lynn) Penrod of Carterville; father, William "Bill" Penrod of Carterville; grandchildren, Olivia Hunter, Ashlie Gibson, Shelby, Brant and Kolby Penrod; sister, Suzy Ward; aunt, Jeanetta Waldron; nephew, Sammy Ward; and many dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother and uncle, Dago Waldron.
Phillip honorably served our country in the United States Air Force.
He was the custodian for Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Bloomington, Illinois, for many years. Phillip had previously worked at First Baptist Church in Carterville, Prairie Farms and Norge.
Phillip's greatest passion in life was golf, and he remembered every shot he made on every golf course he played.
Graveside services will be held at a later date. Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville is in charge of arrangements.
