Obituary

Wanda June Phillips, 92, of Carterville, passed away December 7, 2022, at Integrity Healthcare of Herrin.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 22, 2023, at North Oakwood Cemetery in Carterville, with Rev. Donnie Colson officiating.

Wanda was born June 13, 1930, in Clifford, Illinois, to Henry and Pearl (Grasty) Juvers. She married George Junior Phillips on November 22, 1946, in Morganfield, Kentucky. He preceded her in death on July 19, 2016.

She is survived by her grandchildren, John (Stephanie) Phillips, Steven (Sara) Tolbert, Jerry Dean (Cheryl) Gass, and Candra Sue (Bill) Cleghorn; 11 great grandchildren; 5 great great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Ellie (Danny) Bigler; and sister, Marlene (Jerry) Capps.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Jerry Phillips; great-grandson, Travis Henshaw; brother, Robert Juvers; and step-father, Elmer Cochran.

She was a member of Apostolic Church in Colp.

Wanda was a talented cook who also enjoyed playing cards and BINGO, going fishing and camping, and dancing.
