Tom Sexton, 82, of Herrin, passed away Saturday, May 30, 2020, at his home.
He was born August 27, 1937, in Herrin, to William Howard and Eva Melissa (Stephens) Sexton.
Tom is survived by the love of his life, Imogene Sexton; daughters; LaDonna James, Cheryl Wallig, and Glenda (Mark) Zelazny; along with 6 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren; as well as his older brother, Paul Sexton and sisters, Mary Jane Cooper, Connie Chapman and Sharon Gaddis.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Don, Gary and Billy Sexton; sisters, Mildred Hale, Evelyn Nation and Betty Rae Farris; and grandson, Donald Blum Jr.
He honorably served our country in the United States Army.
He was a hard working, no fuss man with a big heart and kind smile. Tom was always willing to help everyone any way he could including many strangers throughout his life. He had a witty sense of humor, he loved spending time with family, he was a perfectionist tinkering on just about anything he could. He also enjoyed watching old movies.
At his request, services will be private with his family celebrating his life. Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville is in charge of arrangements.
