Terry Stanley Obituary

Terry Joe Stanley, 81, of Carterville, passed away Sunday, January 8, 2023, at Herrin Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at Noon, Saturday, January 14, 2023, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville, with Pastor Larry Gilbert officiating. Burial will be at Willowrest Cemetery in Carterville. Masonic rites will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday. Visitation will immediately follow. 

Memorial contributions can be made to the First United Methodist Church in Carterville or to Boy Scout Troop 77.

Terry was born September 19, 1941, in Winamac, Indiana, to Jesse and Verna Marie (Holtz) Stanley. He married Glenna Sue McWilliams on June 26, 1960, in Olney, Illinois.

He is survived by his loving wife Sue Stanley of Carterville; sons, Robbie “Rob” (Michaelann) Stanley, Randy (Amanda) Stanley, and Rick (Becky) Stanley; grandchildren, Megan Stanley, Madeline Stanley, Katrina Stanley, Braden Stanley, Dylan Stanley, and Nathan Stanley; sister, Joyce Miller; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Larry Stanley; and sister, Patsy Walker.

He honorably served our country in the United States Army Reserves.

Terry was a Professor of Automotive Technologies at John A. Logan College in Carterville for over 29 years.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Carterville as well as a member of Masonic Lodge #802.

Terry volunteered with the Boy Scout Troop 77 and served as a longtime Scout Master.
