Tammy Gwen Smith

DeSoto - Tammy Gwen Smith, 60, of DeSoto, passed away Saturday, August 17, 2024, at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.

     A celebration of life will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., Sunday, September 1, 2024, at the Hurst Community Center, 204 N. Bush, hosted by her family. 

     Tammy was born August 4, 1964, in Berwyn, Illinois, to Glen Ray and Joyce Vivian (Moore) Heskett. She married Jeri Austin on March 8, 2021, in Hurst.

     She is survived by her wife, Jeri Smith; daughter, Krystal Vivian Conner; sons, Brandon Rogers and Phillip Smith; grandchildren, Anna Rogers, Johnny Kunksy, Austin Rogers, Chasidy Conner, Destiny Conner, Ravin Conner, Tatum Smith, Katrina (Dillion) Quertermous, and Phillip Smith III; great-grandchildren, Addilyn Carpenter, Addilynn Quertermous, and Michael Dean Hahn; brother, Scott Heskett; and her beloved pets, dogs, Dolly and Spence, and cats, Gizmo and TJ.

     Tammy was preceded in death by her parents; infant brother, Keith Heskett; and great-grandson, Leo Quertermous.

     She loved music, particularly music of the 80’s and was a truly embodied the hippy spirit. Her presence will be dearly missed.
