Sue Kiefer, 80, of Herrin and formerly of Carterville, went home to meet her Lord and Savior on March 24, 2023, surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville, with Brother Kevin Drake and Pastor Jordan Griffith officiating. Burial will be in Willowrest Cemetery in Carterville. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., at the funeral home on Saturday.

Sue was born on August 29, 1942, in Carbondale, to Willie Robert and Mabel Florence (Hart) Cobb. She married James “Jim” Curtis Kiefer on August 29, 1958, in Carterville. He preceded her in death on July 22, 2007.
She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly (Rick) Sparks; grandchildren, Brooke (David) Dean and Austin (Natasha) Sparks; great-grandchildren, Lani Dean, Kami Dean, Jesse Dean, Phoenix Dean, Josie Dean, Kaden Sparks, Nevaeh Sparks, Kohl Sparks, Nalani Sparks, Kiellan Sparks, and Kane Sparks; great great-grandson, Malakai Dean; plus many cherished nieces, nephews, and great friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons, James Curtis Kiefer Jr. and Jimmy Kiefer; brothers, Lowell, Charles, and Ronnie Cobb; sisters, Betty McCree, Gilda Tyner, and Wilma McKinnies.
Sue was a devoted member of the West Monroe Apostolic Church in Herrin.
She enjoyed reading, cooking, but most of all her family was the greatest joy in her life.
