Steven Douglas Hacker

Steven Douglas Hacker, 67, of Crainville, passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at Herrin Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 8, 2025, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville, with Pastor Kerry Cox officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Carterville. Visitation will be from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m., Saturday, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions can be made to Friends of Crab Orchard Lake Refuge.

Steven was born December 3, 1957, in Carbondale, to Douglas and Georgia Elizabeth (Poteete) Hacker.

He is survived by his daughters, Claire (Joseph Fonseca) Hacker, Heather (Kyle) Filson, and Jennifer (Brent) Sizemore; grandchildren, Xena Fonseca, Logan Filson, Kylie Filson, Ian Bogard, and Ali Sizemore; and several nieces and nephews.

Steven was preceded in death by his parents; son, Steven Hacker Jr.; and sister, Sue Wall.

He worked as a Supervisor at Old Ben Coal Company and enjoyed spending time outdoors, particularly fishing and at Crab Orchard Lake. He was a fan of watching TV shows, especially COPS, and was an avid football enthusiast. He also loved playing washers with friends and family.
