Sonja Mae (Hendrickson) Brenner

Sonja Mae Brenner, 84, of Burns, Tennessee, and formerly of Herrin, passed away Sunday, October 22, 2023, at TriStar Southern Hills Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 30, 2023, at Herrin City Cemetery, with Pastor Daryl Varble officiating.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Leukemia Society.  

Sonja was born March 31, 1939, in Pineville, Kentucky, to Edward and Meda (Mason) Hendrickson. She married Jerry Elmer Brenner on December 16, 1960, in Carterville. He preceded her in death on June 13, 1985.

She is survived by her sons, Ronald (Michelle) Brenner and Michael (Elizabeth) Brenner; grandchildren, Zach Brenner and Mikaela Brenner; great-granddaughter, Savannah Tewalt; sister, Rhonda Hall; several nieces and nephews.

Sonja was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three sisters; and two brothers.

She was a devoted Christian woman who loved the Lord and her family dearly.

Sonja was an avid Elvis fan and cherished her beloved dog, Gilbert.
