Sherry Stubblefield Obituary

Sherry Ellen Stubblefield, 69, of rural Carterville, passed away at her home on Monday, February 15, 2021 with her children close by. Cancer could not snatch away her serenity nor her steadfast hope in Jesus, the anchor of her soul.

She was born in 1951 in St. Louis, Missouri. Sherry married Dr. Virgil Emery Stubblefield on June 6, 1975, in Clayton, Missouri. He preceded her to heaven on April 8, 2020 after a nearly 45-year marriage of laughter, love, and perseverance.

She was the gentle, selfless, loving mother of Ethan, Jill, and Justin Stubblefield and sister of John.

Prior to having children, Sherry was the director of medical records at Koch Hospital.  Once Ethan was born, she became a full-time mom to raise her children at home.  She and her husband loved their children best by loving each other so faithfully and deeply.  After her beloved husband passed away, Sherry handled widowhood with much grace and still had her ceaseless smile as her sovereign Savior sustained her.

Sherry was especially thankful for the excellent care she received from the compassionate staff of Hospice of Southern Illinois.

Memorial contributions can be made to Pregnancy Matters, 241 S. Lewis Lane, Carbondale, IL 62901.
