Sharon Kay Reed, 83, of Carterville, passed away Sunday, February 2, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 7, 2025, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville, with Rev. Ryan Tackett officiating. Private burial will be held at a later date. Visitation will begin after 5:00 p.m., Thursday, February 6, 2025, then Friday, February 7, 2025, from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m., all at the funeral home.

Sharon was born July 8, 1941, in Vandalia, Illinois, to James William and Mildred Lucille (Radliff) Owen. She married Larry Mitchell Reed on May 28, 1961, in Tuscola. Together they have shared 64 wonderful years.
She is survived by her husband, Larry Reed; sons, William (Kathy) Mitchell Reed, and Michael (Tally) Allen Reed; daughter, Katherine Sue Kane; brother, Larry James Owen; grandchildren, Kelsey (Dustin) Russell, Alisha (Dakota) Reese, Mitchell (Brooke) Kane, Taylor Martin, Olivia Reed, Grayson (Ploenpit) Reed, Fausha (Brad) Champley, Vanessa (Mike) Meinert, and Danielle (Bronson) Meyer; fifteen great-grandchildren; and nieces, Cristinia Haggerty, Tiffany Jeffers, and Leah Miller.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; in-laws, Eleanor and Fonzie Reed; brother-in-law, David Reed; and sister-in-law, Patty Owen.
She was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Carterville and an active volunteer with the Home Extension Office and Meals on Wheels, always giving selflessly to others.
A talented artist and crafter, Sharon, found joy in painting, quilting, and creating beautiful handmade pieces. Her creativity and kindness touched many lives, and she will be deeply missed by family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
