Sharon Nell (McGhee) Johnson

Sharon Nell Johnson, 74, of Carrier Mills and formerly of Herrin, passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2020, at Herrin Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 26, 2020, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville, with Rev. Ralph Brandon officiating. Burial will be in Herrin City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Saturday, at the funeral home. COIVD restrictions apply.

Sharon was born June 28, 1946, in Chicago, to Ebert and Nell (Waldrop) McGhee. She married Joseph "Joe" W. Johnson on July 14, 1967, in Johnston City, and together they have shared 53 wonderful years.

She is survived by her husband, Joe Johnson of Carrier Mills; daughter, Rebellie (Kim) Beavers of Carterville; grandchildren, Macey (Kyle) Rumsey of Carterville, Justin Beavers and Carrie (Josh) Christmas, all of Nashville, Tennessee; great-granddaughter, Hartlan Jo Rumsey; plus many extended family and dear friends.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Shari M. Lane.

She was a beautician for over 26 years with her own salon, Sharon's, located in Herrin. Sharon and her husband, Joe, owned many businesses over the years including the town favorite arcade.

Sharon had an affinity for shopping, especially yard sales. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed time spent with them.
