Scott Woolard Obituary

Scott Allen Woolard, 56, of Herrin, and formerly of Carterville, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at his home.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 24, 2022, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville, with Rev. Gene Crain and Rev. Richard Switzer officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Saturday, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions can be made to Energy Baptist Church or Centerstone (to assist those with mental health issues).

Scott was born June 24, 1966, in Herrin, to Larry Dale and Mary Ann (Switzer) Woolard.

He is survived by his parents, Larry and Mary Ann Woolard; brother, Jason (Christy) Woolard; sisters, Michelle (Richard) Smith and Laurie Matson; nieces and nephews, Kyle (Cara) Derry, Matthew Matson, Shay (Joe) Wuerffel, Megan (Zach) Prendergast, Courtney Woolard, Jakob Smith, Ashley Woolard, and Jude Smith; and great-nieces and nephews, Lucy and Lydia Wuerffel, and Leighton, Cooper and Reed Derry.

Scott was preceded in death by his grandparents, Hubert and Wilma Switzer, and Bertus and Vera Woolard.

He was a former carpenter and roofer.

Scott was a loving son, brother, uncle, and nephew. He loved his church family and dedicated many hours volunteering his time. Scott was an avid fisherman and loved being outdoors. He was kindhearted and loved everyone. Scott was a very understanding person but was often misunderstood.
