Samuel Elijah Duncan passed from the arms of his mother and into the loving arms of his Heavenly Father on March 13, 2026.
Samuel was born shortly before his passing, a triplet alongside his two sisters, Elizabeth and Susanna. Though his time on this Earth was brief, it was spent surrounded by the deep love of his parents.
Despite Samuel’s short life, he has left an immeasurable impact on his family and all who love him. After years of praying for children, Samuel and his sisters were a precious answer to prayer. In the midst of profound heartbreak, his parents find peace in the promise that they will one day be reunited with him.
Samuel was given his name from the Old Testament prophet, whose mother also conceived after seeking the Lord as well. His parents echo the words of Hannah in 1 Samuel 1: 20 and 27-28: “She called his name Samuel, for she said, ‘I have asked for him from the Lord’”, and “For this child I prayed, and the Lord has granted me my petition that I made to him. Therefore, I have lent him to the Lord.”
Samuel is survived by his loving parents, Aaron and Jaden Duncan; his sisters, Elizabeth and Susanna; his grandparents, Chris and Amy Duncan, Jessica Henderson, and Scott Vogt; his aunts and uncles, Jonathan Duncan, Tyler Vogt, and Savannah and Mathew Lorimer; his cousins, Roman, and Hayzen; many great and great-great grandparents; many great aunts and uncles; and other beloved family members.
Private family graveside services were held.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to help assist with the medical expenses for Samuel’s sisters, Elizabeth and Susanna.
Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville assisted the family with arrangements.
