Ruth Morgan Obituary

Ruth Aline Morgan, 79, of Elkville, passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale. 

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, April 11, 2022, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville, with Ron Kreid officiating.  Burial will be in Zeigler Cemetery in Zeigler.  Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home.    

Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois, 204 Halfway Road, Marion, IL 62959. 

Ruth was born on July 29, 1942, in Alto Pass, Illinois, to Rolla Daniel and Bessie (Bush) Reed.  She married Edward “Ed” L. Morgan, USN-retired, on January 3, 1962.  He preceded her in death on November 28, 2005. 

She is survived by her daughters, Sandy Morgan (Tim Taylor) of DeSoto and Kim (Rich) Bernardini of Elkville; grandchildren, Dallas (Kimmie Slinkard) Cavitt of Cape Girardeau, Logan Cavitt of DuQuoin, Trey Bernardini of Elkville, and Morgan Bernardini of Elkville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ed (Barb) Reed of Cambria, Curt Reed of Creal Springs, Danny Reed of Blairsville, Jim (Peggy) Reed of Cambria, and Tom Reed of Jackson, Missouri; several brothers-in-laws and sisters-n-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sisters, Pearl Jean Morrison, and Laura Weller.

Ruth worked as a C.N.A. at Jackson County Nursing Home in Murphysboro for over 20 years. 

She was member of the Ladies Auxiliary in Hurst.

She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan and enjoyed playing bingo and cards, but, most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.
