Ruth Alma Dunning, 82, of Carterville, passed away Friday, December 30, 2022, at Herrin Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville, with Rev. R.H. Chitwood officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Carterville. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., Wednesday.

Ruth was born March 27, 1940, in Pomona, to William and Alma (Mezo) Ticer. She married Leon Jearlds and he preceded her in death in 1966. Ruth later married Fred Dunning and he preceded her in death in 2005.
She is survived by her children, Susan (Andy) Holderfield of Johnston City, Leon Jearlds of Colp, Mary Ellen (Jerry) Evans of Carterville, and Ricky Dunning of Danville; grandchildren, Lindsey Holderfield, Sarah Sloan, Andrew Holderfield, Johnny Jearlds, David Jearlds, Billy Jearlds, Bobbi Jo Evans, Jerry Evans Jr., Moneaka Dawn, Destiny Dunning, and Desiree Jones; many great-grandchildren; sisters, Anna Mae Snyder, Jeanie Hill, Debbie Stilley, Tina Skiles, and Caroline Loucks; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; daughter, Jerri Lynn; grandson, Michael Drake; brothers, Billy, Robert, Jerry, Larry, Donnie, Jeff, and Richard Ticer; and sister, Linda Lou Gossman.
She had worked at the Williamson County Programs on Aging and as a caregiver for the elderly for many years.
Ruth formerly attended Cambria Apostolic Church.
She was an animal lover who enjoyed listening to country music and drawing. Most of all, Ruth loved spending time with her family.
