Ronald “Ronnie” Aue, 82, of Crainville, passed away Sunday, September 15, 2024, at St. Louis University Hospital, wrapped in love by his wife and daughters.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, September 19, 2024, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville, with Pastor Jeff Wiggs officiating. Burial will be in Willowrest Cemetery in Carterville. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Cambria Christian Church.
Ronnie was born October 2, 1941, in Terre Haute, Indiana, to Otto John and Betty Francis (Dengler) Aue. He married Julia Ann Chance on August 1, 1970, in Terre Haute, Indiana. Together they have shared 54 wonderful years.
He was a graduate of West Terre Haute High School. Ronnie completed his Journeyman Ironworker and Welder Certificate from Southern Illinois University Division of Technical Education. Ronnie was a Union Ironworker who proudly served in his craft for 30 years, as a member of Paducah Local 782, achieving his honorary status in 2002 and lifetime status in 2007. Ronnie was a longtime member of the Carbondale Eagles.
His greatest love was his family, especially his grandchildren and their activities. He loved to travel, especially to casinos and on cruise ships. Ronnie was a dedicated fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and Battlehawk Football, as his grandson was a player. He was also a very proud Navy papa.
He is survived by his wife, Julia Ann Aue; daughters, Brandy Ann (Alexander) Shaw of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Sherrie Michele (Ronald) Runge of Crainville, Illinois, and Kimberlee Wharton of Crainville, Illinois; grandchildren, Eric Magwood, Zachary Shaw, Alexis Shaw, Brady Shaw, Liam Runge, Rachelle Runge, Derek (Brittney) Ehlers, Anthony Kroese; great-grandchildren, Brayden Ehlers, Brooklyn Ehlers, Randy Runge, Kyle Runge, Carter Runge, Joey Runge; sister, Lou Ann (Eric) Dillinger; plus numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Ron was preceded in death by his infant son, Randy Gerald Aue; parents; brother, Jerry Lee Aue; and his beloved aunt and uncle, Guy and Anna Mae Neuman.
