Ronald Dean Richardson, 91, of Carterville, passed away Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at his home.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 23, 2022, at Egyptian Memorial Gardens in Energy, with reflections by Dixie Richardson. Military honors will be accorded by the Air Force Honor Guard and the Carterville American Legion Post and Herrin V.F.W. and American Legion.
He was born on November 26, 1930, at his home in Carterville, to Dallas Ray “Squat” and Lola Jane (Yates) Richardson. Ronald married Frances “Francie Ann” McCall, on June 7, 1954, in Carterville, which was officiated by his grandfather Thomas Patrick Richardson, J.P. Together they have shared 67 wonderful years.
Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife, Frances; daughter, Deen Ann (Becky) Robertson; granddaughter, Courtney (Keith Barclay) Richardson and Deidre Huffman; great-grandson, Cayde Barclay and Caelan Huffman; sisters, Sandra Cooper and family, and Dixie Richardson; sister-in-law, Lee Richardson; nephew, Randy Richardson, Erik Orr, Wiley Richardson, Jeff Richardson; nieces, Debra (Kevin) Reagan; great great-niece, Sierra Dayne (Brandon Estes); dear friends, Robert “Bob” Hill and Billy Simmons; family members of Harley and Margaret “Sissy” Garmane.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Connie Sue Russell; grandson, Ryan Dean Richardson; brother, Ray Jr., Larry Don, and Michael Duane Richardson; brothers-in-law, Fred “Fritz” McCall, Jack Cooper, Joe McCall, Johnny McCall, Harley (Margaret “Sissy”) Garmane, and Harry (Ruth) McCall; sister-in-law, Wanda Mae Edwards; niece, Sue Rungthirakul; nephews, Kevin Orr, Michael Duane Richardson; great great-nephew, Dalton Orr.
Ronald served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War as an aircraft mechanic serving oversees, in Thule, Greenland.
Ronald worked at Norge and then Olin-Matheson for 5 years. He then went to work for the United States Postal Service, where he served as a mail carrier in Carterville for 32 years. After retiring from the post office, Ronald worked at General Dynamics as a Security Guard for 20 years.
He was a founding member of the Williamson County Gun Club and a member of the NRA.
He enjoyed working on his computer, jig saw puzzles, and had become a licensed locksmith.
Ron was well liked and respected as a truly good man who led a good life and who loved his wife and family above all else. He will be greatly missed and forever remembered.
