Roger Matthew Kind, 65, of Herrin, passed away on Monday, December 8, 2025, at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.
He was born on October 31, 1960, in Gary, Indiana, to Roger Matthew and Verna Mae (Murphy) Kind. Roger married Bonnie Charlene Chandler on February 14, 2008, in Reno, Nevada.
Roger is survived by his wife, Charlene Kind; daughter, Sierra Kind; sons, Brandon Kind, Cody Kind, Austin Chandler, and Joey Chandler; grandchildren, Jayda Kind, Peighton Benbrook, Roland Kind, Harlow Kind, Dacoda Chandler; and sister, Carmelyn (Ricky) Malone.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandmother who raised him, Bessie Viola Murphy; brothers, Dana Kind, and Rexy Mitchell; and sister, Cozett Eskew.
Roger worked as a pharmacy technician for more than 30 years, beginning his career at Benton Drug and later serving at Herrin Drug for over 17 years before retiring in 2020. He enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing and was an avid music fan, especially of Elvis Presley and Merle Haggard. A dedicated St. Louis Cardinals supporter, Roger cherished many things in life, but nothing meant more to him than the time he spent with his family.
