Roger Sheridan Cheatham, 72, of Bush, passed away Sunday, January 17, 2021, in Hurst.
Graveside services with military rites will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 22, 2021, at Blairsville Cemetery, with Rev. Dr. Nicholas Clark officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Friday at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville. COVID restrictions apply and masks must be worn.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Activities Department at the Marion VA CLC, or to the Southern Illinois Search and Rescue.
Roger was born on November 5, 1948, in Herrin, to Forrest and Joy (Jelley) Cheatham.
He is survived by his sisters, Rita Stephenson of DeSoto and Dianna Moss of Warden, Illinois; brothers, Carl (Cheryl) Harris of Marion, and Jimmy (Jana) Harris of Danville; several nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews; and good friends and caregivers, Jack and Mary Inchcliff.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Carl L. Harris; and brother-in-law, Mark Moss.
He honorably served our country during Vietnam in the United States Army.
