Robert Jay Winget

Robert “Bob” Jay Winget, 51, of Portland, Oregon, and formerly of Carterville, passed away March 25, 2023, in Portland Oregon.

A memorial service hosted by his family will be held at 3:00 p.m., Monday, April 10, 2023, at the Carterville Community Center, with Pastor Tom Hobson officiating.

Bob was born December 8, 1971, in Marion, to Kenneth Ray and Carolyn Marie (Dixon) Winget.  He attended both Carterville and Herrin Schools. Bob graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree and had worked as a tool and die operator.

Left behind are his wife, Beverly (Bower) Winget; many step-children and grandchildren; brother, Kenneth Brice (Melissa) Winget; niece, Amanda (Shane) Woodard; nephews, Johnathan Winget and Jacob Winget; aunts, Terrie (Phil) Hewlett, Ellen (Jerry) Gooden, Pam Winget; plus many cousins.

Bob was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Ray Winget; grandparents, John and Martha Winget, and Robert and Pearl Dixon; uncle, Abe Winget; and aunt, Vickie Winget.

He honorably served our country in the United States Army.

Bob was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed cooking and gardening. He was a hands-on worker and could build just about anything.
