Richard Wayne Morehead Sr.

Richard Wayne “Uncle Ricky” Morehead Sr., 72, of Hurst, died, Monday, April 28, 2025, at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M., Friday, May 2, 2025, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville with Pastor Danny Norman officiating.   The burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in rural Williamson County.  Visitation will be held from noon until the time of the service on Friday.

Richard was born on January 7, 1953, in Anniston, Missouri to Clarence Allen & Billie Imogene (Gillispie) Morehead.  He married Dana Louise Helton on November 6, 1971, in Makanda.  She preceded him in death on July 9, 2007.  
He is survived by his daughter, Angela Hacker (Mark Cash); son, Richard Morehead Jr.; sister, Beverly (Jack) Cover; grandchildren, Clifton ( Sandy LaBarre) Hacker, David (Chessney) Hacker, Kiera Green, Zane Wallace, Hunter Morehead, Carter Morehead, Clayton Morehead, Randy Morehead, Nathan Morehead, Elizabeth Morehead, Gracie Morehead, Tessa Morehead; great grandchildren, Jace Hacker, Dean Hacker, Jaxson Wallace, Aria Wallace, and Tate Morehead; daughter-in-law, Stacy Dabbs; and best friend Allison.  
He was preceded by his parents; wife; brothers, James, Larry and Clarence Matthew Morehead; sisters, Lawanda Jacquot, Judy Musgrave, and Melba Hinkleman.  
Richard was an over-the-road truck driver, working for Atlas Van Lines for over 30 years.
He enjoyed going fishing, singing karaoke and playing pool.  
Richard was the life of the party, who had a heart of gold and would help anyone he could.
