Richard Kim Beavers, 69, of Carterville, passed away Monday, November 18, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his family. Born on July 21, 1955, in Herrin, to Richard Lee and Claudean (Tyner) Beavers. He married Rebellie Jo Johnson on February 9, 2002, in Herrin. Kim lived a full and humble life filled with love for God and family.
Kim worked for 14 years as a coal miner Old Ben #26. He served over 27 years with Carterville Unit #5 school as a custodian and director of transportation , where he was known for his reliability and friendly nature.
A member of Vision Church in DuQuoin, Kim was a man of faith who cherished simple joys. He was a lifelong fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and an enthusiastic armchair sports announcer, always ready to share his passionate commentary. Whether he was mowing his yard, going for a drive, or relaxing on the swing with Reb, he found beauty in life’s quiet moments.
Kim is survived by his wife, Rebellie Beavers; son, Justin Beavers; daughters, Carrie Christmas and Macey (Kyle) Rumsey; grandchildren, Isabella, Sophie, Luke, Ivy Jane, Charlie, Cash, Hartlan, and Rylan; sister, Karla Beavers; brother, Danny Beavers; and a host of family and friends who will deeply miss his warmth, wit, and steadfast love.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Josh Christmas; in-laws, Joseph and Sharon Johnson.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 24, 2024, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville, with Pastor Nathan Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Blairsville Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 2:00 p.m., Sunday, at the funeral home.
