Randy Joe Glisson, 75, of Carterville, passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, July 18, 2025, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville, with Rev. Ralph Brandon officiating. Burial will be in Blairsville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Randy was born on November 14, 1949, in Chicago, to Lela Fern Lindsey. He married Sharilyn Kahle Waldron on January 8, 1972, in Cambria. She preceded him in death on April 16, 2006.
He is survived by his daughter, Angela (Danny) Craig; son, Christopher Glisson; grandchildren, Devin (Carissa) Glisson, Catelyn Craig, Alyx Craig, Tori Craig, and Christian Glisson; great-grandchildren, Ezra Glisson, Abel Joe Glisson, Celina Glisson, Carsyn Joe Draper, Krysten Miller, and Braxton Scott Glisson; brother Jim Hagler; niece and nephew, Tarna (John) Paul, and Kenneth Hagler; plus several great nieces and nephews.
Randy was preceded in death by his mother and wife, Sharilyn Glisson.
Randy retired from Southern Illinois University Carbondale after 36 years of service in the auditing and fraud investigation division.
A proud owner of a 1977 Mustang Cobra II, Randy enjoyed attending car shows, reading, working puzzles, and most of all, spending time with his family—especially at his grandchildren’s events.
