Philip Michael Hoover, 38, of Marion, passed away Monday, November 23, 2020, at St. Louis University Hospital.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 5, 2020, at Blairsville Cemetery with Pastor Jeff Wiggs officiating.
Phil was born June 8, 1982, in Marion, to Paul Jay and Nancy Irene Hoover. He was a 2001 graduate of Zeigler-Royalton High School and worked as a prep plant operator at M Class Mining in Akin.
He was always the life of the party with his contagious laughter, goofy antics, “Evil Knievel” like stunts and his love of singing karaoke. Phil was a movie aficionado, loved to go mudding and to be in the woods with friends. Although he packed more adventures, good times, and great laughs than most could in his mere 38 years of life, Phil also had a giant soft side. He always was a shoulder to cry on, a listening ear, giver of good advice or a kind word, even a ride at 4 am to anyone who needed it. Phil’s loving and giving spirit will live on with his final selfless act of organ donation.
Survivors include: his father, Paul Jay Hoover of Cambria; brother, Rusty Hoover of Royalton; grandmother, Sandra Hoover of Cambria; aunt, Sheila (Bob) Hess of Goreville; and cousins, Theodore and Brandon Hess. He is also survived by lifelong friends that became family, Quinten (Nikki) Haney of Mulkeytown, C.J. (Elsie) Schram of Zeigler, Mike (Amber) Chwarczinksi of Zeigler, Shawn Stienkamp of Royalton, Sarah Leniciki (partner Bill) of Carmi, Thomas Pickles of Zeigler, and a very “special to his heart” little boy, Carter Miskelley, as well as many other family, friends and coworkers.
Services are under the direction of Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral in Carterville.
