Pete Hall

Robert “Pete” Hall, 79, of Carterville, passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2025, at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale, with his family by his side.

Graveside military rites will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 7, 2025, at Hillcrest Cemetery in Carterville, performed by the Navy Honor Guard, Carterville American Legion Post, and Herrin VFW and American Legion Post.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Activities Department at the CLC at the Marion VA.

Pete was born on December 24, 1945, in West Frankfort, to Earl and Ruth (Baumgarte) Hall. He married Dianna Simpson on December 3, 1987, in Carterville.

He is survived by his wife, Dianna Hall; mother-in-law, Delores Simpson; step-son, Garrett (Jana) Fozzard; step-daughter, Julie (Tommy) Jacobs; grandchildren, Garrett Wade Fozzard, Carly (Chandler) Davila, and Zachary (Paige Whitworth) Jacobs; great-grandson, Kassian Davila; brother, Richard Hall; sisters, Ialanda Hall-Metz, and Stella Gulley.

Pete was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, George and Danny Hall; father-in-law, Duncan Simpson; and sister-in-law, Donna (Richard John) Polnau.  

He honorably served his country in the United States Navy, including overseas deployment.

After 20 years of dedicated service, he retired from the Federal Bureau of Prisons. He later continued his professional life with the Ira E. Clark Detective Agency, where he worked until 2023.

Pete enjoyed spending his afternoons catching up with friends.
