Pauline Kaye (Parker) Stearns

Pauline Kaye Stearns, 81, of Carterville, passed away Saturday, September 9, 2023, at Herrin Hospital.

Visitation will be from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., Saturday, September 23, 2023, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home.

Pauline was born April 7, 1942, in Alton, Illinois, to Joe and Agnus Parker. She married Kenneth Ray Stearns on April 8, 1967, in Carbondale. Together they have shared 67 wonderful years.

She is survived by her loving husband, Kenneth Stearns; son, Mark (Sherrie Lee) Stearns; grandchildren, Scott A. Stearns, Samuel J. Stearns, and Olivia A. Stearns; great-grandchildren, Paige, Kaitlin, Charlie, William, Beau, and Jocelyn; sisters, Agnus Caywood and Jacqueline Parker.

Pauline was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Brian Stearns; brothers, Pat and Allen Parker; and sister, Faye Merritt.

She was a special education teacher for over 15 years at Elkville School.

Pauline was a member of West Monroe Apostolic Church in Herrin.

She was an avid reader who enjoyed watching television and spending time with her family.
