Obituary

Paul Jay Hoover, 65, of Cambria, passed away Sunday, June 19, 2022, at Arch of Helia Healthcare in Energy.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville, with Rev. Jerry Smith officiating. Burial will be in Blairsville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions can be made to Cambria Christian Church.

Jay was born February 1, 1957, in Herrin, to Bobby Lee and Sandra June (Hodges) Hoover. He married Nancy Irene Harris in St. Louis, Missouri. She preceded him in death on December 16, 2018.

He is survived by his son, Rusty Hoover of Royalton; mother, Sandra Hoover of Cambria; sister, Shelia (Bobby) Hess of Goreville; and nephews, Theodore and Brandon Hess, both of Goreville.

Jay was preceded in death by his father; wife; and son, Philip Michael Hoover.

He worked at Old Ben #25 Coal Mine for over 15 years. Jay also worked at Bombardier in West Frankfort for over 15 years.

Jay enjoyed going fishing and hunting.
