O.D. Hendricks, 82, of Crainville, passed away Monday, May 17, 2021, at his home, surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, May 21, 2021, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville, with Bro. Jim Rutherford officiating. Burial with military rites will be at Willowrest Cemetery in Carterville. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home.

O.D. was born May 9, 1939, in Metropolis, to Ernest and Anna Jewell (Downing) Hendrix. He married Dorothy Hale on July 3, 1971, in Jackson County.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Hendricks of Crainville; children, Judy (Mike) Lumbert of Cambria, Michael Tod (Susan) Hendricks of New Bern, North Carolina, Kent (Juliann) Hale of Herrin, April (Bob) Long of Johnston City, Autumn (Jeremy) Sollami of Crainville, and Tod (Holly) Hendricks of Crainville; grandchildren, Tabetha Farrar, Travis Cook, Tyler Cook, Payton Lee, Candra Talley, Kaelynn Hendricks, Benjamin Hale, Nathanial Hale, Quentin Hendricks, Samantha Bean, Mia Sollami, Leah Bissey, Anna Hendricks, Ethan Hendricks; 14 great-grandchildren; and many dear friends.
O.D. was preceded in death by his parents; sons-in-law, Brad Cook and Ronald “Bear” Dean Lee; brothers, Lloyd, Ernest, and Robert Hendrix; niece, Ramona Kay Franklin.
He honorably served our country in the United States Army.
O.D. retired from Tuck Tape after 35 years as a Retail Supervisor. He had also worked at Penn Aluminum for 3 years.
He was a member of First Apostolic Church in Carterville and also belonged to the Blue Herron Marina.
O.D. was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. His passion for fishing garnered multiple wins in local and regional bass fishing tournaments. O.D. was one of the charter members of the Little Egypt Bass Club.
