Nancy was born January 31, 1951, in Bonne Terre, Missouri, to Clifford “Woody” and Dorothy Madeline (Compton) Limbaugh. She married Leo Stephen Nicholson in 1969, in Farmington.
She is survived by her daughters, Stephanie Lynn (Tom) Krausser and Crystal Nicole (Matthew) Young; grandchildren, Nicole and Luke Young; sister, Karen Ann Ervin; brother, Kevin Limbaugh; and several nieces.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and son, Leo Micah Nicholson.
She received her associate degree from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale in Computer Information Processing. Nancy later worked at SIUC in the Physical Plant for many years.
Nancy loved God and sought ways to have a closer connection to Him.
She was a writer of poetry, rescuer of strays, master of sarcasm, and lover of desserts-particularly Drumsticks.
Being a grandmother was her favorite and she took that role seriously and was one of a kind. She played the clarinet in the JALC Community Band, alongside her granddaughter. Nancy also was the master of video game playing with her grandson, notably Mario Kart Wii.
Nancy’s family would like to express their thanks and appreciation to the staff and residents at The Voyage for their excellent care and compassion. They became like a second family to Nancy. Her family would also like to acknowledge Hospice of Southern Illinois for all that they did for Nancy as well.
