Modie Mae (Rowatt) Gulley

Modie Mae Gulley, 83, of DeSoto, passed away on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.

She was born on December 1, 1941, in Cambria, to Victor Eugene and Dorothy Mae (Foster) Rowatt. Modie married Clyde Thomas Gulley on November 7, 1960, in Cambria.

Modie is survived by her husband, Clyde Gulley; sons, James (Judy) Gulley, Michael (Brandi) Gulley, and Jerry Gulley; daughter, Deborah (Greg) Peterson; 15 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sister, Brenda Rowatt; brothers, William Rowatt and George Rowatt; plus several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her son, Kevin Lee Gulley; and an infant sister.

Modie had worked at Good Luck Glove Factory in Carbondale for a time. She later devoted her life to caring for her family and home.

She enjoyed bowling.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville assisted the family with cremation services.
