Mitzi Ann Moore

Mitzi Ann Moore, 62, of Carterville, passed away Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at her home, surrounded by family.

She was born July 1, 1962, in Carbondale, to Carl and Julia Ann (Chapman) Moore.

Mitzi was the proud owner and operator of First Stop Body Shop in Carterville and C&J Enterprise, where she poured her heart and soul into her work.

Her passion for Trans Am cars was evident in the many she owned and cherished over the years. She also had a deep love for animals, dedicating her time to finding homes for stray cats after ensuring they were spayed and neutered.

As a child, Mitzi found joy in horseback riding and, later in life, relished quiet evenings by the warmth of a bonfire surrounded by loved ones. Mitzi will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, her love for life, and her commitment to both her passions and the people around her.

She is survived by her daughter, Misty (J.P.) Mowrer; fiancé, Mark Poore; grandchildren, Owen and Lilah Mowrer.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Hospice of Southern Illinois for their compassionate care, with special gratitude to Amy and Faith for their extraordinary kindness and support.

A service to celebrate Mitzi’s life will be held at a later date.

Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville assisted the family with arrangements.
