Michael Allen Thompson

Michael Allen Thompson, 53, of Royalton, died Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at Herrin Hospital with his family by his side.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, April 29, 2023, at Blairsville Cemetery with the Rev. Greg Parker officiating. 

Memorial contributions can be made to the funeral home to offset funeral expenses. 

Michael was born on June 9, 1969, in Pinckneyville to Howard Wayne Thompson and Brenda Smith.  He married Susy Donaldson on October 22, 2005, in Royalton. 

He is survived by his wife, Susy Thompson; daughters, Kelsie Thompson and Kaitlyn Thompson; birth mother, Brenda Taylor; mother who raised him, Marcia Thompson; brother, David Thompson; sisters, Julie (Steve) Lazorchak, Angie Simmons, and Shelly (Carlos) Gonzalez; close life-long friend, Billy Reinbold; and unbiological daughter, Jayme Anderson.

He was preceded in death by his father.  

Michael worked as a coal miner and also worked as a truck driver.

He enjoyed being outdoors, going camping, fishing, hiking and being on the lake. 

Michael’s greatest joy was his family especially his daughters,  teaching them how to play sports, build a fire and also teaching them wisdom in dealing with the ways of the world.
