Michael Simmons Obituary

Michael Lewis Simmons, 64, of Carterville, passed away Monday, November 2, 2020, at Saline Care Nursing & Rehab in Harrisburg.

Graveside services will be held at a later date.

He was born June 2, 1956, in Kankakee, to Riley Lee and Naomi (Toler) Simmons.

Michael is survived by his father, Lee Simmons of New Burnside; brother, Greg (Loann) Simmons of Carterville; sisters, Carol (Keith) Ward of Mayfield, Kentucky and Susan (Jerome) Broski of Carbondale; sons, Justin (Brittany), Jason (Brittni) and Jordan Simmons; grandchildren, Adrien, Hannah, Kynleigh and Tyler, Jaxon and Jailynn, and Grayson; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

Michael owned and operated along with his family, Crossroad Sporting Goods in Carterville for over 20 years. He was also a truck driver for Summer High Trucking Company in New Burnside.

He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to go hunting, camping and fishing.
