Michael Dean Richardson

Michael Dean Richardson, 68, of Elkville and formerly of Carterville, passed away Saturday, July 25, 2020, at 6:45 a.m., in Carbondale.

Memorial services will be held at 6:00 p.m., Friday, July 31, 2020, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville.  Visitation will be from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m., Friday. Phase 4 Guidelines in effect: facial coverings and social distancing.

Michael was born September 28, 1951, in Carterville, to Wayne Myron and Betty Lou (Clark) Richardson.

He is survived by his daughter, Ashley Richardson (John McClure) of Dowell; son, Austin Richardson (Brandi Croy) of Cobden; sisters, Candra Sue (Billy) Gleghorn of Zeigler and Sarah Tolbert of Herrin; brother, Kent A. Richardson of Herrin; grandsons, Daniel "Dalton" Poole, Landon Michael Eugene Richardson and Liam Croy; granddaughters, Brandelynn R. Poole, Adelyn N. Richardson and Auna McClure; several nieces and nephews; 3 great nephews; and lifelong friends, Jimmy and Carrie and Tracy and Stacy.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Wayne Lee Richardson; 3-month old nephew, Travis James Henshaw; and many lifelong friends.

He was a graduate of Carterville High School.

Michael retired after more than 20 years of service at Tuck Tape.  He was a lifelong mechanic and an avid car show attendee until his health no longer allowed it.
