Melodie Fae (Gentry) Anderson, MSN, BSN, CNOR, 61, of Marion, and formally of Carterville, passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2020, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
Melodie spent the last 34 years at SIH fulfilling a life-long passion in Surgical Nursing Education where she was the leader to a team of colleagues helping strive for patient's health and well-being. When Melodie wasn't being the nurse that she loved to be, then she was the loving mother to her children, Michael and Sarah Anderson. Melodie's soft voice and big heart will be missed by many.
She was born January 13, 1959, in Carbondale to John Robert and Ada Mae (Davis) Gentry.
Melodie is survived by her children, Sarah Anderson and Michael (Kristie) Anderson; grandsons, Chase Ryker and Kane Lucas Anderson; husband, Steve Anderson; sisters, Debbie Gentry and Aretha Gentry; plus many additional family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A drive-through celebration of her life will be held, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, Wednesday, May 27, 2020, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville. (Please access the funeral home via the entrance off Anderson Street.) Private Inurnment will take place at North Oakwood Cemetery in Carterville. For the safety of everyone, the family kindly asks that you remain in your car to respect the COVID-19 guidelines, as we get through this difficult time.
Memorial contributions are the preferred form of remembrance and will be graciously accepted to help the family offset her medical expenses.
