Maxwell Nelson Obituary

Maxwell Kennedy Nelson, 27, of Herrin, passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at his home.

He was born September 6, 1995, in Lake Tapps, Washington, to John and Julie (Samuel) Nelson. Maxwell married Hannah T. Hemmen on September 12, 2015.

Maxwell is survived by his wife, Hannah Nelson; sons, Vincent and Deaglán Nelson; parents, John and Julie Nelson; sisters, Morgan, Miquelie, and Mollie; mother-in-law, Laura Hemmen; sister-in-law, Dara (Austin); brother-in-law, Josiah; sister-in-law, Star (Derrick); and several nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Roy Hemmen; and grandmothers, Glenda Crowder and Cathrine Trubiano; and honorary brother, Jesse Gurley.

Maxwell was a proud and accomplished Merchant Marine. He loved playing football growing up. He played guitar and piano beautifully. He loved working out, history, playing chess, watching UFC, and he dreamed of going deep sea fishing and seeing the world. He had the best sense of humor and could make you laugh even in your darkest hour. He had a big heart and was always willing to help anyone in need. He was the most singularly genuine human being- what you saw was what you got. But more than anything in the world, he loved his sons. They were his greatest joy.

There will be no service per Maxwell’s wishes.

Memorial contributions can be made to the family (Hannah Nelson) and will be accepted at the funeral home.
