She is survived by her husband, Frank Snider of Energy; daughter, Deborah Ann (Jim) Bouse of Marion; grandsons, Ben and Will Bouse, both of Herrin; sister, Antonette Allsopp of Herrin; nieces and nephews, John Allsopp of Carterville, Jim Allsopp of Kentucky, Joe Aloffo Jr. of Tennessee, Anthony Aloffo of Marion, Roger Snyder of Herrin, and Susan K. Parks of Nevada; several great nieces and nephews; her beloved Dachshund dogs, Sparky and Daisy; and many dear friends.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Joe (Avanell) Aloffo; brother-in-law, Ronald Allsopp; and nephew, Michael Snyder.

Mary was a cook at Herrin High School for over 26 years. She also served as a playground monitor at Energy School for many years. Mary held many certifications over the years, including being water safe certified.

Mary enjoyed gardening and was also a talented painter and artist. She molded and sculpted concrete figures for just about everyone.

Mary was a faithful member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, where she belonged to the Daughters of Mary. She volunteered her time and cooking talents for many funeral dinners.

Mary was an active member in the community, having served as a 4-H Leader, a member of the Home Extension Club, member of the Red Hats Society, and belonged to a club of lifelong friends, “The Jaymakers”.

She was an avid sports fan, particularly the St. Louis Cardinals and the SIU Salukis! Mary would even follow the SIU Salukis on the road.

Mary had suffered from a chronic liver disease for years and was the recipient of a liver transplant-which she was blessed with over 22 years ago.

If you knew Mary, you knew her love of people, and especially children. Mary was an extremely talented cook. She put her talents to use and made sure that all the neighborhood kids were well fed over the years.
