Marsha Kay McGuire, 76, of Carterville, passed away Friday, July 5, 2024, at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale, surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville, with Rev. Ryan Tackett and Pastor Kevin Edwards officiating. Burial will be in North Oakwood Cemetery in Carterville. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Marsha was born on October 5, 1947, in Herrin, to Robert Lee and Evadean (Hall) Church. She grew up in Cambria and was the eldest of 11 children. She married Thomas Calvert McGuire on April 29, 1965, in Cambria. Together they shared 59 wonderful years.
She is survived by her husband, Tom McGuire; daughter, Trisha (Donnie) Hammann; son, Scott McGuire; grandchildren, Jordan McGuire, Kerrigan (Chris) Norris, ShayAnn McGuire, and Alysia (Lexus) Stewart; great-grandchildren, Dutton-James Norris, Avery-Aaron Norris, Cecilia Taylor, and Josephine Hutchison; brothers and sisters, Robbie (Linda) Church, Dee (Linda) Church, Randy (Patty) Church, Jeff (Melodie) Church, Lyndell (Annett) Church, Donetta (Hector) Pacheco, Lynette (Steve) Marble, and Jim (Jill) Church; special aunt, Linda Burris; very special cousin, Sue Kristovic; numerous nieces and nephews; and brother-in-law, Paul Eveland.
Marsha was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Bobby (Sherry) Church; sister, Sherry Faye Church; and grandparents, Evan (Freeda) Hall.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Carterville. Marsha worked for the Carterville School District as a bus driver for 25 years, then later as a bus monitor for 7 additional years.
Marsha was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, but most of all friend. She truly loved being a “Mawmaw” and “G-Mawmaw” more than anything in this world. Marsha loved to travel and take many adventures. Her favorite hobby of all time, SHOPPING! She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
