Marilyn Jean (Stocks) Hastings

Marilyn Jean Hastings, 72, of Carterville, passed away on Friday, December 5, 2025, at Herrin Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 13, 2025, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville, with Pastor Jeff Wiggs officiating.  Burial will be at Willowrest Cemetery in Carterville. Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m., Saturday, at the funeral home.

Marilyn was born on February 25, 1953, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Eugene “Gene” H. and Lamoria M. (Richardson) Stocks. She married Ronald Lee Hastings on August 31, 1971, in Morganfield, Kentucky. He preceded her on November 1, 2016.

She is survived by her son, Jeremi (Shelly) Hastings; daughter, Heather Hastings (Michael Knott); grandchildren, Kelsey (Jonathon) Beavers, Tristen Hastings, Hannah Knott, Sophie Knott, Mackenzie Lindsey, Fallon Hastings, Hunter Hastings, Noah Skibinski, Carolyn Skibinski, and Gage Skibinski; great-grandchildren, Astrid Hicky, Grayson Phelps, Elinor Bissey and Vivian Bissey.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and daughter, Dawn Marie Hastings.

Marilyn loved animals, especially her dogs. They were her lifelong joy and a constant source of comfort and stability throughout her life.
