Marilyn Ruth Cochran, age 82, passed away March 5, 2024, at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale. She was born February 1, 1942, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Gilbert and Marion (Rauschkolb) Elchinger.
After just one date, Gary Cochran knew she was the one, and they were married two years later in September of 1967. They then adopted their daughter Angela in 1977 when she was just 4 days old.
Marilyn loved Jesus and reading her bible, painting ceramic figurines, collecting new recipes to try, and tending to her flowers. She was the most organized person any of us has ever met, and kept everything around her running like clockwork.
She is sorely missed and survived by her husband, Gary Cochran; daughter, Angela Cochran; grand-dog, Bixby; brother, Gilbert (Sylvia) Elchinger; and several nieces and nephews.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Kathy Campbell.
Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service Monday March 11, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Egyptian Memorial Gardens in Energy, with Pastor Scott Slone officiating. A brief celebration of life and a luncheon will follow at Elkville First Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Elkville First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 157, Elkville, IL 62932.
