Clifford Mack Janes, 87, of Lake of Egypt, passed away on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Deaconess in Marion.
A Celebration of Life, conducted by his family, will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 22, 2025, at the Lake of Egypt Christian Church with the Rev. LeRoy Waggoner officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Saturday, at the church.
Memorials are the preferred form of remembrance to the Marion Elks Lodge.
Mack was born on November 26, 1937, in Paragould, Arkansas, to Ernest Clayborn and Nannie Olive (Riley) Janes. He married Gloria Jean Hyde on August 19, 1975, in Marion.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Fritzi Janes; daughter, Kim (Gordon) Reynolds; son, Tommy Mack Janes (Rachel Davis); and granddaughter, Whitney Reynolds.
Mack was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jesse Janes; and sisters, Jean Davis and Lee May.
He honorably served in the Army Reserves for more than twelve years.
Mack owned and operated Mack’s Grocery Stores in Marion, Carterville, and Carbondale for over fifty years, and also owned Mack’s Marina at Lake of Egypt for more than twenty-five years.
He was a dedicated member of the Marion Elks Lodge and Rotary for over fifty-seven years.
Mack loved farming, spending time on his tractor, buying, selling, and trading, and watching Westerns.
