Ludene Cox, 91, of Carterville, passed away on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her family.
Memorial services will be held at 12:00 noon, Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville, with Pastor Matt Brown officiating. Inurnment will follow at North Oakwood Cemetery in Carterville. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, Wednesday, at the funeral home.

Ludene was born on August 25, 1934, in Carterville, to Leoran “Hiney” and Sara (McEwan) Hindman. She married James “Jim” Claude Cox on December 12, 1952, in Carterville. He preceded her in death on March 15, 2011.
She is survived by her daughter, Julie Cox McCamish (Wayne Harry); son, Jay (Debbi) Cox; grandchildren, Sam McCamish (Wivine Beeldens), Joe McCamish (Danielle Hartline), Andrew McCamish, Betty Williams, and Sidney Johnson; great-grandchildren, Daisy McCamish (Russell Moore), Sophie Jewel, Taylan Dove, Trenton (Lindsey), Keegan (Ebriessa), Analise, James, Sara, and Antoine; great great-grandchildren, Rowan, Riggs, Oliver, Breck, Whitley, and Waylon; son-in-law, Bradley McCamish; granddaughter-in-law, Missy Johnson McCamish; plus friends and many devoted care givers over the last several years.
Ludene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jim Cox; sister, Rae Rich; and nephew, Steve Rich.
She was a devoted homemaker who took great pride in caring for her home. She enjoyed collecting antiques, working on sewing projects, doing puzzles, and participating in Civil War re-enactments with her husband, Jim. Ludene also had a wonderful green thumb, evident in her beautiful flower gardens and numerous indoor plants.
