Louise (Emery) Purdue

Louise Purdue, 87, of Crainville, passed away Friday, December 9, 2022, at Herrin Hospital.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville, with Pastor Cody Knapik officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Davis-Prairie Cemetery in Marion. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions can be made to Crainville Baptist Youth Group.

Louise was born April 9, 1935, in Carterville, to Coy and Vena (DeLoach) Emery.

She is survived by her daughter, Melinda (Gary) McGowan of Carterville; several very dear friends; and her beloved cats, Woody and Bootsie.

Louise was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter, Lou Ann; daughter, Melissa Jane; sisters, Jewell Davis, Florine Mathis, and Rosamond Alexander; and brothers, Harold Dean and Howard Emery.

She had been a C.N.A. at Herrin Hospital for over 20 years.

Louise was a faithful member of Crainville Baptist Church for over 50 years.

She was an animal lover who enjoyed reading, doing cross word puzzles, crocheting, and quilting. Louise loved music, especially John Fogerty.
