Lonnie Ray Jarvis

Lonnie Ray Jarvis, 86, of Hurst, passed away Thursday, August 15, 2024, at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.

Graveside services will be held at 4:00 P.M., Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Blairsville Cemetery, with Pastor Ryan Tackett officiating. 

Memorial contributions can be made to his family. 

Lonnie was born on March 6, 1938, in Herrin, to Earl Ray and Helen Marie (Elliott) Jarvis.  He married Mary Grace Back on April 9, 1957.  She preceded him in death on August 7, 2024.

He is survived by his son, Charles (Peggy) Jarvis; daughter, Kathy (John) Renshaw; grandchildren, Aaron (Vanessa) Renshaw, Andrew (Amanda) Renshaw, and Mary Elizabeth Jarvis; great grandchildren, Charlie Renshaw, Immy Renshaw, Evie Renshaw, Oliver Renshaw, and Kellina Clay; sister, Rosemary Taitt; plus several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughter, Tracy Jarvis; sisters, Vera Mae Jeralds, Vivian Erline Tyner, and Edith Helen Mitchell; brothers, Gene Jarvis, Ralph Dale Jarvis, and an infant brother. 

Lonnie was a truck driver for over 50 years, working for Bonifield Trucking, Yellow Freight, and Mail Contractors of America. 

He was a member of the Hurst Masonic Lodge as well as the Teamsters.

Lonnie enjoyed going fishing and having fish fry’s.
