Linda Dunavan Obituary

Linda Kay Dunavan, 72, of Carterville, passed away Monday, November 23, 2020, at St. Louis University Hospital.

She was born October 30, 1948, in Carbondale, to Delbert Lee and Kathryn Irene (McGee) Barnett. Linda married Michael J. Dunavan on November 28, 1964, in Genesee County, Michigan.

Linda is survived by her husband, Michael Dunavan of Carterville; sons, Michael (Christina) Dunavan of Cambria and Brian (Susan) Dunavan of Flint, Michigan; daughters, Katrina Lynn (Chris) Dudzinski of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin and Sabrina Marie (Delbert) Smith of Loveland, Colorado; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; brothers, Gary Barnett of Florida, James McDougall, Larry Barnett, and Bruce (Laurie) Barnett, all of Burton, Michigan; step-mother, Violet Chambers of Carterville; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, David and Terry Barnett.

Linda spent most of her life taking care of her home and children. She later obtained her teaching degree and taught in Michigan and Illinois.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Carterville and belonged to the Women of Compassion Group.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Baptist Children’s Home in Carmi.

Services are under the direction of Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville.
