Early on Friday, March 27, 2020, Leonard R. Runge, 90, while holding his beautiful bride's hand and looking out over the farm he loved so much with all his children by his side, went home to be with his Lord and Savior.
Private family services will be held. A celebration of Leonard's life will be held at a later date.

Leonard was born on December 6, 1929, in Chester, to Roy and Velma (Leonard) Runge. He married Darlene Runge on October 13, 1951, in Walsh.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Darlene Runge, of Carterville; children, Regina (Mike) Spaulding, David (Sheila) Runge, Donna (Doug) Bogard, Donald Runge, Ronald (Sherrie) Runge, and Connie (Mike) Fowler; grandchildren, Christy (Scott) Mullett, Jeremy Bogard, Jared (Susan) Bogard, Will (Stasha) Spaulding, Joshua Taylor, Lara (Jess) Runge, Rachelle Runge, and Lexy Fowler (Christian); great-grandchildren, Shea Spaulding, Erik Van Driel, Ian Bogard, Skylar Van Driel, Kylie Bogard, Randy Runge, Drake Bogard, Gunner Bogard, Kyle Runge, Collin Mullett, Carter Runge, Noah Taylor, Joey Runge, Nolan Spaulding, and Elise Spaulding; brothers, Dick (Louise) Runge, Bob (Ruth) Runge, Carl (Sharon) Runge, and Virgil (Sharon) Runge; 35 nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.
Leonard was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Roger Runge.
He honorably served our country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
Leonard was the General Manager at General Telephone in Herrin for over 20 years.
He owned various businesses in southern Illinois over the years, including Runge Trucking Company, along with his brothers. He had also worked at Marion Ford, Claunch Motors, Banterra Bank, and for the Illinois Department of Corrections.
He loved his family and his "farm".
